Memorial Creation
All the processes of creating your Ashes into Glass Memorials are carried out in our Studio here at Barleylands Glassworks. Our "hot" workshop is equipped with a Furnace to melt the Crystal Glass, kilns for firing the glass and gas torches for the more intricate work. Our "cold" workshop has lathes and diamond tools for cutting and polishing the memorials. The ashes never leave our premesis.
All ashes are different in particle size and colour. Do not worry about this, we have a process to deal with it and can work with all ashes. Production of Memorial Glass pieces is skilled work. The process starts by preparing the ashes and coloured crystals on a metal table known as the "Marver". The ashes memorials are then built up in layers of coloured crystals, your Loved One's ashes and Crystal Glass at a temperature of 1100C. Once finished, the glass cools slowly for 18 hours. Memorial Paperweights are made using this process.
Whilst working with Memorial Glass, we have also pioneered a process to change a concentrated amount of Memorial Glass into a Crystal by cutting, polishing and toughening it. We call these crystals Cremation Crystals™ and they are mounted in our Memorial Jewellery.
All Ashes into Glass Jewellery bears the 925 Sterling Silver or the 9ct Gold Hallmarks assuring you of the quality of the metal used. It also bears our own Hallmark "Ashes". This is our guarantee to you of the finest quality Memorial. You are welcome to visit us when we create your Memorial Glass piece.
Our methods are unique to us and are patent pending (number 0904777.0.)
Cheap imitations are now available using plastic resin. This material can be found in jewellery from a Christmas cracker. Please take care.
